Dragon Penske driver seeks improvement of the EV-5 model for the rest of the season

After the two first rounds of FIA Formula-E, teams and drivers of the World Championship entered the first hiatus of races of the 2022 season. After going through the tracks of Diriyah – Saudi Arabia and Mexico City the competition will resume its calender only in the 9th and 10th of April, with the Rome E-Prix.

Representing the colors of the North-American team Dragon Penske, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara is working hard with his colleagues seeking for improvements to the EV-5 model. On the Mexican E-Prix battles the car development of the Brazilian, as well as his teammate, was way below the hopes of the team and in comparison to the other contenders. This way, on a nearly immediate basis, executives, drivers and engineers got together and, within the regulations limitations are working hard towards an significant improve for the rest of the season.

On the Mexican E-Prix, Sette Câmara had a participation completely ruined by the lack of pace of his car. “In Mexico we had all the track schedule developed in only one day. Therefore, everything was super busy and we didn’t had the chance to search for improvements. We had practice sessions even better than in Diriyah and, on qualifying I believed I had done a good lap. It was very close! For a tenth of a second I would have gotten around 10 positions on the starting grid, and it would have helped me a lot”, explained the driver #7, who started on the 20th position.

The race took place under two hours after the qualifying and Sérgio, with a car that noticeably couldn’t keep up with the pace from the others, did his best to finish the race, that just like in qualifying, was concluded on the 20th place. “On the race, our pace was too far from the others. We really struggled a lot. Our car was more energy consuming than the others and it seemed that we were in a different category. I’m annoyed by this situation. We can’t maintain this performance and we are working really hard to improve our pace for Rome. Our goal is to be back fighting for the places near the Top10”, concluded the 23 years old diver.

The third round of the FIA Formula-E World Championship will take place on the 9th and 10th of April with another double round event.
