After having participated in a Super Formula race in 2020, the driver returns to the oriental country for the fifth round of the Formula E World Championship

Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara, who competes in the Formula E World Championship for the ERT Formula-E Team, arrived in Tokyo, Japan’s capital, on Wednesday for the fifth round of the global competition. The country, hosting the competition for the first time, is characterized by a population passionate about motorsports and Brazilian drivers since the days of Ayrton Senna.

Coming from a challenging performance at the São Paulo e-Prix, the fourth round of the Championship, the Brazilian is confident in resuming his upward trajectory aimed for the remainder of the calendar.

This marks Formula E’s first visit to Japan, naturally becoming a historic event. The stage for the next chapter in the battle for the 2024 World Championship is set in Tokyo Bay as a backdrop and tickets are already sold out. The urban circuit hosting the Tokyo e-Prix promises a new challenge for the drivers and an exciting spectacle for the spectators. The 20 turns of the 2.585-meter track feature a compact and technical layout with four long straights and four sequences of chicanes.

“I really like Japan, the Japanese people, and especially the city of Tokyo. The fans are very active, all tickets are sold out, and I am honestly very excited. This is the first time a major motorsport competition runs right here in the city, and from what I trained on the simulator, I really liked the track. I think it fits well with our car’s reality. The circuit is tight, narrow, and difficult to overtake. Considering that, the FIA has made a small amount of energy available for the cars, which will require us to save a lot during the race, and naturally, this will lead to overtaking at all points of the track. It will certainly be a very strategic race for everyone,” commented the MRV-sponsored driver.

This Saturday’s race will be broadcast live in Brazil on Band and on the Grand Prix channel on YouTube, at 3 a.m.
