Brazilian driver was the second fastest in tests carried out in Valencia

This week, the Autodromo Ricardo Tormo, in Valencia – Spain welcomed the cars and drivers from the FE World Championship for the short pre-season of the electric car category. With tests on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday, the drivers completed a total of six training sessions and, in the end, the Brazilian Sérgio Sette Câmara (MRV / BMG) ended his participation with the second best time on the track at just 36 thousandths from German Max Günther, the fastest.

Sergio, who was recently announced as the main driver of the Dragon Penske Autosport team for the seventh season of the Championship, arrived in Valencia very excited. After having raced the last six races of season six, with this same team, the 22-year-old will be the youngest driver on the grid in 2021.

The Penske EV-5 model used by the team was the same as the team used last season, however, with some improvements that were added within the requirements of the strict regulation of the category. Sette Câmara’s strategy was to make the most of his time on the track to better understand the car’s reactions, especially at a race track. It is worth remembering that during the season, the FE only competes only on street circuits.

Along the 4,005 meters of the race track, Sergio completed 186 laps in the three days of tests, thus accumulating a mileage of approximately 750 km. During that time he also took the opportunity to become familiar with the new members and engineers of the Anglo-American team and to develop different types of set-ups to be used throughout the year.

Sérgio’s performance over the three days of activities was very good. In the compilation of Saturday’s tests he scored the 19th time with the 1m13s492 mark. On Sunday, a great evolution was seen when the day was concluded with the Brazilian’s car in 11th when setting the time of 1´12´340. On the third day, when car # 7 completed 55 laps on the Spanish circuit, Sette Câmara got a spectacular lap and, with a time of 1´11.7796, he got the second best overall time.

“I am very happy with the performance we achieved here in Valencia. The pre-season tests are exactly for the team to develop possibilities for car setup and for people to gain a greater rapport. Despite being just free practice, our growth over the days and ending work with both cars in second and third was really exciting ”, concluded the young man from the city of Belo Horizonte.
