Third stage of the Championship was difficult for the Brazilian driver

This Saturday (28) the second round of the Formula-E World Championship was concluded. The track assembled in the streets of the city of Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, received another very busy race to close the passage of the competition in the Middle East.

Competing in car #3 of the Chinese team NIO333 Racing the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara had a difficult stage of adaptation with the new car GEN3 of the team. Even having achieved the 11th time in the only free practice, in the qualifying session he could not extract the expected performance of the car and, with this, qualified for the race only in the 13th position.

“I am not being able to adapt correctly to the brakes of our car. The car is very fast and the reactions need to be extremely precise. My car oversteered a lot and, with that, I needed to brake well before to get around the corners. Thus, I ended up wasting time since I could not carry the ideal speed in the resumption of acceleration. Since we are not in a good position for the race, my engineers and I decided to go for a completely opposite style of setup to what we had been using. This way we will have new data to analyze and, basically, we will use the race as a kind of training for the rest of the season”, he explained.

With a car completely different from what had participated in the qualifying, Sergio followed for the second race of the weekend. After a good start, the driver managed to gain a position and positioned himself for a recovery race. However, what was seen in the course of the laps is that car #3 could not keep up with the pace of the opponents in front of it and, with that, it was not long to be overtook. With the same professionalism as always Sette Câmara completed the 40 laps of the race and received the flag in 17th position.

“We did a car setup test, but unfortunately it did not work. What was no longer good turned out to be even worse and, as we say in the language of motorsport, gave an even greater reverse. The car is completely new for all teams and, like us, several other teams are having some kind of adaptation problem. We will now return to the headquarters of the team, carefully analyze all the data collected and, based on this, study the best solutions for the race in India. I believe we will have a good speed there and, as the track is new to all teams, I think we can aim for more significant results”, concluded the 24-year-old.

The fourth stage of the Formula-E World Championship will be held in Hyderabad, India, on February 11.
