At the 62nd Edition of the Macau F3 GP Brazil, the Brazilian pilot  was the fastest in the history of the Chinese track

Ended on Sunday the 62nd Edition of the Macau F3 GP. 28 pilots from around the world participated in the traditional competition that has already had countless F1 pilots as itswinners.

Ending his debut season in international F3,  the Brazilian pilot Sérgio Sette Câmara (Mercantil do Brasil / Cemig / Intralot /  Motopark) landed for the first time in Macao in search of a good result but, above all, learning and experience. The stroke of the competition is extremely long and, unlike other street circuits, it has stretches of very high speed, where the cars exceeded the barrier of 250 km/h.

After qualifying in seventh position for the qualifying race,  Sette Câmara made this race with extreme confidence. Despite being quite fast,  the pilot knew about the importance of preserving the car for the last and decisive race. So, he finished the race in sixth place.

Very concentrated, Serginho knew that his main objective would be to overcome the tangle on the first corner and, from then on, seek for his recovery in search of the podium. The pilot managed to keep on track and was then seeking to recover. Studying each point of the track he managed to gain a position and, in the dispute for the fifth place, one of his car’s tires stuck what forced him to stop in the pits. The team worked quickly and put him back on the track, but without any chance to fight for a position. Driving alone,  the pilot began to impose an impressive pace and, on the last lap, he set the new record of the track with the time of 2m10s186. The previous record was from Edoardo Mortara, established in the 2009 race, with  six-tenths slower than that of Sette Câmara.

“It was a weekend of a lot of work here in Macao. We started not so good, but, in the course of the activities, me  and the car started improving. Our car was top for the race and it wasn’t for the accident I believe I  really could end with a place on the podium. I may say that the best lap and the circuit record helped me a little bit to overcome the frustration of the flat tire. I want to thank my sponsors, family, staff and all who support for my success, commented the 17-year old pilot.
