By Scuderia Toro Rosso, the 18-year-old Brazilian was invited to participate in the collective test at Silverstone next month

It was announced on the morning of Monday (27) an announcement that every pilot would love to receive. Scuderia Toro Rosso, of Formula 1, invited the Brazilian pilot Sérgio Sette Câmara (Red Bull | Petrobrás | Cemig | Mercantil do Brasil) to make his first official test on board of a current F-1 car.

Serginho, as became known in the world, was hired last December to be part of the pilots’ development program of team Red Bull. With a technical and aggressive driving style, the pilot competes regularly in his second season in the European F3 Championship. In 2016 he has been on the podium in Pau, in France, he broke the record of the Red Bull Ring circuit, in Austria, and this Sunday (26), he returned to the podium of the Championship with the third position at Norisring, in Germany.

Supported by the program that more pilots led to the top category of motorsport in recent years Sette Câmara has been developing an extensive work with his main sponsor. Part of his regular activities  are regular sessions on team simulators, as well as having participated, last May, in a presentation in Spain with RB8 car, with which Sebatsian Vettel  conquered his fourth  F1 championship..

With a very quiet and extremely professional attitude, the pilot has called the attention of all and, in this way, he received an invitation to participate in a day of official practice, along with other pilots of F1 season.

HOW WILL BE THE TRAINING

Sette Câmara will hold their first practice of F1 in a STR11 model, from Scuderia Toro Rosso. The activity will be held on Wednesday, July 13, at the traditional Silverstone race track in England. This same car will be driven on the previous day (12) by its main pilot of the season, the Spaniard Carlos Sainz Junior.

“I’m very happy and excited to test a F1 car with Toro Rosso”, commented the pilot  during his visit to team factory on Monday, in Faenza, Italy. “This will be an excellent opportunity for which I have worked and prepared myself to achieve. I want to thank everyone who made this possible, especially Red Bull. This will be my first official F1 test and be assured that I’ll do my best work and, of course, have fun. After all, such an opportunity like this one doesn’t happen every day! Silverstone is a fantastic track which I’ve had the opportunity to drive in other opportunities. This will surely help me focus all my attention on the adjustment of the car and all the new information that I shall receive without worrying  myself to memorize  the stroke. Honestly I can’t wait to take to the track. This is, frankly, a moment I will never forget, “commented the 18-year-old pilot.

Franz Tost, chief of the Toro Rosso team, commented the invitation. “Providing opportunities for pilots of the Red Bull Junior Team to feel the real taste of Formula-1 is something that we are already used to. Personally I find this fascinating. Not just to see how these young pilots will adapt quickly  to details like increased power, downforce or the brake of a F1 car, but also to how they react to the pressure of a day with all the spotlights in the F1 world. This gives them a real sense of how things can progress in the future. Thus, I am very pleased to receive Sérgio in our team and I hope that this day of testing can be mutually beneficial. “
