Invited by the Motopark Team, the pilot will have his last competition of the season
This weekend, the island of Macau, in the far east of China, hosts for the 62nd time the Macau F3 GP. About of 30 pilots from all over the world are in the race that is one of the most traditional in the world.
The pilot Sergio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil / Cemig / Intralot / Lalubema), from Belo Horizonte, is the only Brazilian pilot in the competition which, on several occasions, has been won by pilots who arrived to Formula-1.
Macau’s race became traditional for being held always at the end of the season, in a single event, always after the completion of the major Leagues of Europe. Despite being a non-permanent circuit, the track features some very particular characteristics as a great wide straight, where the cars achieve almost 250 km/h on the other hand, in another part of the circuit, a sequence of tight curves where pilots are forced to made it on the first gear. The main European and Asian teams and pilots from all over the planet take part of the competition.
The competition format is also quite peculiar. The activities started on Thursday, with the first free practice and, as a result, it has been held the first taking of times. On this occasion, after picking up the dirty part of the track, Sette Câmara escaped when using the brakes and could not make a good time. In the second qualifying session Serginho managed to make a fast lap and, with the time of 2m11s721 he assured the fourth row for the starting grid of the qualifying race. This race will be played this Saturday and the result will be the basis for the formation of the starting grid of the final race, which will last for 1 hour.
“This is my second chance on street circuits. Earlier this year I drove in Pau, in France, but here is very different. The track has more than 6 km long, very dirty and has very fast stretches and other very slow. The wall all the time at your side is a challenge. In the first qualifying session I was in ninth when I escaped. But, in this second qualifying, with the track cleaner, I managed to do a good lap and I was among the first eight. I will start on the clean part of the circuit in this qualifying test and, on Sunday, my objective is to seek a place on the podium.
