Announced as a test driver for McLaren, the Brazilian faces his last challenge of 2018

The Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates hosts this weekend the 12th and final double round of the F2 World Championship. After being announced as the new test driver for McLaren’s F1 team, Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas | Americanet | Lubrax) will face his last official 2018 challenge.

Currently in the sixth position in the Championship, the 20-year-old Brazilian will have a very challenging circuit ahead. With long straights, the Middle East track provides good overtaking points using the DRS. On the other hand, the Arab layout is extremely complex with 21 curves and a total of 5,554 meters in length. Designed by the renowned German architect Hermann Tilke, the track is one of the most modern of the F2 calendar and hosts the championship events since 2010. In addition, because it is a race performed at night, the temperature is also more pleasant and offers a very comfortable driving condition.

Sergio has shown an excellent performance throughout the year, having had eight podiums, so it is only natural that his goal is to once again make a great race and, more than that, to go after his first victory of the season in a race where he is, in particular, already out of the dispute for the title.

“We had a very productive year in 2018. Despite the problems in the car at the beginning of the season, as well as my accident in Monaco, I was able to show my potential and with that, the results came naturally. At this point it is no use thinking only about my position in the standings at the end of the Championship. I want to have a great weekend here in Abu Dhabi, to do my absolute best and take the best out of the equipment and, logically, to end the season with a victory would not be bad. I’m going to work 100% focused on these two races and, when it’s all over, on Sunday, we’ll see what the standings look like, “Sette said.
