Debuting with the DAMS team, the Brazilian driver completed three days of testing in the United Arab Emirates

After the end of the 2018 season of the F2 World Championship, drivers and teams remained in Abu-Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. This Thursday and Friday, as well as this Saturday, the teams followed a schedule of six sessions of free practice.

After announcing his change to the French team DAMS, Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas | Americanim | Lubrax) had his first experience in his new home.

With great tranquility, the racer worked two days (Tuesday and Wednesday) on intensive studies with the team where he was able to meet all the staff, analyze the telemetry data of the last weekend, as well as making the seat for his new car. Finally, in agreement with the team’s engineers, Sette was presented with the schedule that he should follow during the six training sessions that were to come.

When the track was opened on Thursday, Sérgio had no difficulty adapting to the car and with his new teammate, the Canadian Nicholas Latiffi, went on to numerous adjustment tests and different mechanical, suspension, electronics and car aerodynamics settings.

Without the obligation to achieve the best times, or to have to prove any kind of competence in driving the Dallara / Mecachrome, the Brazilian completed a total of 1,000 kilometers of tests in those three days. There were 48 laps on Thursday, 64 on Friday and 68 laps on Saturday, concluding a total of 180 laps at the Yas Marina circuit.

Among the six sessions, Sette was always among the fastest of the track and, even when he was in racing simulation, he managed to establish very fast and very constant laps. The best mark set by the # 5 car was 1m50s092 which earned Sérgio the fifth position at the end of the postseason tests.

“I really enjoyed those days that I spent here in Abu-Dhabi with the DAMS team. The staff gave me a warm welcome. We began with an intense work of data analysis. After that, during these three days, I was able to assimilate a lot of their way to work and as the requests of the engineers arose I went to the track and tried to put them into practice the best way possible. These three days were very positive and I hope we can do even better at the start of the season, “concluded the 20-year-old.
