Brazilian driver to defend English team that returns to the category next year
The F2 World Championship ended on Sunday. The Yas Marina racetrack in Abu Dhabi received the 11th round of the year that was marked, as well as disputes inside the track, as one of the most anticipated announcements of Brazilian motor racing in recent months. Sérgio Sette Câmara (ACER | CCR | PALMDREAM | SANEPAV | TAESA | CEMIG | BELL) signed this contract with the English team Carlin for the F2 World Cup in 2018.
Sette Câmara, who made a great inaugural season in the category in 2017, accumulated impressive results in the second half of this year and, with that, attracted the attention of several teams. The Brazilian driver had a good experience with the English team in 2016, when he competed in the F3 World Cup in Macau, finishing the competition in third place.
Sette Câmara will compete together with Englishman Lando Noris in the Carlin team. An old acquaintance of the Brazilian driver, who raced against him since the days of the go-karts, Noris was the European Champion of F3 and was recently promoted to official reserve and test driver for Mclaren.
“I’m very happy to announce that next year I’m going to compete with the Carlin team. The English team is very traditional in the motorsport world and I am sure they will be in an excellent condition for a season where we will have new cars and new engines. Having a driver so fast and victorious as Lando by my side will be even better. I’m sure we will help each other and as a consequence fight for the victories since the start of the Championship, “commented Sérgio.
SETTE CAMARA SCORES ONCE AGAIN IN THE LAST STAGE OF THE COMPETITION
The final round of the F2 World Championship also marked the return of Sette Câmara to the scoring zone. The driver finished ninth in Saturday’s race and in eighth place in Sunday’s race. With this, he got another three points for his classification in the Championship. With this, he scored 47 points in the year and finished the season in 12th place.
“I’m very happy to finish the season in a positive way. My improvement was evident in the second half of the Championship and with that, I was able to finish the year well.
