In one of his favorite tracks, the Brazilian driver wants to win more podiums

This weekend, between April 27 and 29, the city of Baku in Azerbaijan will become the world capital of speed. In the long and fast circuit on the streets of the city, the F2 World Championship will have its second round of the year. The tests will be valid for the third and fourth stages of the competition

The only Brazilian driver in the championship,Sérgio Sette Câmara (YOUSE | Banco BMG | MRV | CCR | CEMIG | GASMIG | Usiminas) is excited about the next events. Coming from two podiums in the opening round of the Championship in Bahrain, the 19-year-old from Minas Gerais says this track is one of his favorites.

“I love street circuits. I had the opportunity to compete here last year. Unlike tracks like Monaco or Pau, for example, here in Baku we have the biggest straight of the whole Championship. This gives us the possibility of overtaking and thus brings more excitement to the races, “said the driver.

From a technical point of view Sérgio believes that he could have to work harder. “As the cars and engines are new and we did not have the possibility of practice in the circuit, everything is a bit in the dark. My engineer really likes this kind of circuit and so do I, which can make it easier to adjust the car. But we have to work with the hypothesis of not being so competitive in these conditions. I’m very focused on finishing the races and, if it is possible, accumulating as many points as I can. Last year only 10 riders finished the races. By having stretches with very different widths the track becomes even more difficult. Any loss of concentration means we hit the walls, “he finished.

As in the opening competition of the Championship, the F2 program only has a 40-minute free practice and then the qualifying sessions. The first race will be held on Saturday and the second on Sunday.

After the first two stages of the Championship, Sette Câmara ranks third in the standings with 28 points. Artem Markelov is second with 30 and Lando Noris leads with 39 points.
