In a fantastic race, the Brazilian driver led Macau GP until the last corner

On Sunday, Macau, China,  held the disputes of the 64th Macau F3 Grand Prix. The race, which has received the FIA World Cup status since last year, was exciting from start to finish. Invited by the German team Motopark Academy, the Brazilian driver Sérgio Sette Câmara (Vebet.com | CCR | Gasmig) was the main feature of the final race, leading most of it. However, he eventually crashed on the last corner and did not finish it.

Currently competing in the F2 World Championship, Sette Câmara has been quite fast since the beginning of training sessions on Thursday. Keeper of the track record since 2015 the Brazilian driver has shown that, above all, he still knows his way around an F3 car. Later, in the first free session, he did the fastest lap. The first qualifying session was held on that same Thursday, but, due to complications, the Motopark driver only got the fifth position.

Even with all the efforts of the German team, as well as Volkswagen engineers, who are responsible for the engine, the performance did not improve enough for the qualifier. Thus, in the sum of the two times, the driver was in the ninth overall position for the start of the qualifying race. Unsatisfied with the result, the mechanics and the engineers worked hard to give the driver the edge to seek victory.

The qualifying race was on Saturday and considering the long extension of the Guia Circuit, it lasted only ten laps. The participation of Sette Câmara really deserved great prominence. The driver made a recovery run, gaining positions lap by lap, and in the end he finished in the third position. With this result he secured in third place for the final race, opening the second row of the grid.

Excited with the improvement in car performance, the driver headed into the main race. After a good start, the Brazilian remained in third place. Still, in the first lap, he was already in the second position and, on the second lap, he was already crossing the pit lane in the lead. From then on, Sérgio was able to gradually open a considerable advantage until three laps to the end. At this point, already with the tyres worn, the second place came very close. The last lap marked an epic dispute for the first position. Sérgio defended himself any way he could in all the corners of the circuit until, while being overtaken in the last corner, his car lost its grip and the driver ended up crashing into the protective barrier, as well as the competitor who had overtaken him. Daniel Ticktum, who was coming in the third position, ended up with the title.

“This competition is a World Cup and, in the final race, we have to go for all or nothing. I held my position as best as I could, my competitor’s tyres were in better conditions by the end of the race. Unfortunately, at the entrance of the last corner, my car was completely loose and I ended up crashing. It was an incredible experience, I thank Motopark for the confidence and we are giving all we got next week, for the last stage of F2 “, commented the Brazilian at the end of the race.
