In an exciting race, the Brazilian pilot records once again his name in an historical competition

The Brazilian pilot, Sérgio Sette Câmara (Red Bull | Petrobras | Cemig | Mercantil do Brasil), Member of the Red Bull Junior Team, ended this Sunday (20) his participation in the 63rd Edition of the Macao F3 GP with a celebrated third position on the podium. The race, which this year was awarded the status of World Cup F3-FIA, was played at the traditional circuit of the Guia, a track mounted on the streets of the city, and with the participation of 29 competitors.

The participation of Sette Câmara in this Championship was very long awaited since last year; in his debut in the competition, he recorded the track record on the Chinese track. Very excited, the Brazilian pilot headed East on the planet willing to fight for a victory, even making his debut in a new team, the British team Carlin.

After achieving good times during free  practice sessions, Serginho followed excited for the taking of times which decided the  start positions in the first race. With the time of 2m11s994 he assured  the second row of the starting grid, in fourth place.

The first race was held yesterday with 10 laps. Serginho, after a good start, made a consistent and safe race. On a much positive way he managed to defend from the various attacks he was faced with and, in the during some laps he managed to be fast enough to jump to the third position and secure his place on the podium.

Excited with his performance, the pilot and the team followed working in search of any detail that could improve his performance for the race on this Sunday. The pilot arrived at the track very excited this morning and lined up his car in the third position on the grid for the final race.

After a spectacular start, Serginho jumped from the third to the first position on the breaking for the corner. Aware of the quality and potential of his main competitors, who came right behind him, the Brazilian imposed a very strong pace in the first laps. After two laps completed he had already opened almost two seconds for the second pilot, his teammate. However, a crash on the fourth lap brought the safety car to  the track thus cancelling the advantage he had achieved. On the restart, victim of the strong vacuum created by his own car, Sette was overcome, but remained very close to the leader. Gradually, both opened a certain advantage, but on the 11th lap, the safety car again entered the track and regrouped the platoon. Serginho was able to keep the car # 27 in second position, but with the already well-worn tires he fell to third place. Without discouraging he followed on his opponent and managed, with a lot of courage, to finish the race in the  third position.

“I’m happy for this position we have achieved here. Our car was very fast and competitive throughout the weekend. Yesterday, after the qualifying race, I was able with my engineer to find some details that made the difference today. I spent the night thinking on the start and actually managed to put into practice jumping  to the first place on the braking of a curve. It was a very difficult race mainly in the second entry of the safety car. It took too long to get off the track and my car had a problem, preventing me from attacking my teammate. This race is surreal and conquering the podium here was great. I didn’t have a good final result in the European F3 and this result, especially vis-à-vis the so experienced competitors, can really help me in defining my career next year “, concluded the 18-year old pilot.
