In his first street race, the pilot showed skill and constancy in the three races of the round0

The third triple round of the European F3 Championship was held In the narrow streets of the city of Pau, in the Pyrenees region, in France. In a very traditional circuit, which has more than 70 years of history, the Brazilian pilot Sergio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil/Lalubema), from Belo Horizonte, showed that he is experiencing a season of  clear  growth and he had his best season by arriving in the 11th position in the race this Sunday.

The weekend of the competition started on Friday, with two rounds of free practice sessions and the taking of times. This being the first contact of the Brazilian pilot with this circuit and, above all, with a street track, much information was passed on to him and,  both the Motopark Academy team as his coach,  Roberto Streit from Rio de Janeiro, had a major role in his performance during all activities.

The free practices were held on a wet track and Serginho had a good performance in the first session, which was more of a recognition. On the second session, hitting one of the yellow lines, the suspension of his car broke and he was forced to abandon the practice. Even without having had this opportunity to acquire more data for the taking of times, Sette Câmara followed confident  for the two taking of times that would be held a few hours later. In these qualifying sessions,  Serginho achieved a good pace and, with fast and constants laps he was able to get the 16th position for the start of the first race, the 20th for the second and 13th for race 3.

The pilot arrived at the track on Saturday and, with a good weather, he prepared himself for the first two races of the round. Starting very well, a feature that has already become his characteristic, the pilot managed to be very steady and, to the extent possible, he attacked his opponents. Thus, at the end of  27 laps, he finished the seventh race of the year in the 14th position. Due to a problem in the taking of times, Serginho started a little further back in the second race. Even so he did not  discouraged and followed for one more start. In a race filled with accidents, Sette Câmara showed great skills to stay on the track, deviate from threats and complete the race in the 20th position.

The best race of the weekend happened undoubtedly this Sunday. As in the other two races several accidents happened , but Serginho showed great skill and self-control to make beautiful overtakings, hold his position when he was pressed and, finally, receive the checkered flag on the 11th place, his better finishing position in the season.

“I’m happy with our growth during this weekend, but at the same time a little disappointed. I was one  position behind to win my first point in the championship what, certainly, in the third round of the year, was a quite expressive result. I thank the team, Streit and everyone supporting  me. We’re going to keep working and I’m sure  that the results will be even better on every race ahead”, said the 16-year pilot.
