Even with tuning and engine problems the pilot performed an excellent final race
This weekend the WSK Master Series Championship reached its second round. The competition was held at the Kart Track 7 Laghi, in the city of Castelletto di Branduzzo, in Northern Italy. SérgioSetteCâmara (BancoMercantil do Brasil | CEMIG | TAESA | MBR | Tear Têxtil | Lalubema | PatrusTransportes | Milplan | ART), the sole Brazilian in KF category, finished the round in the 21st position after being among the last pilots throughout the event.
Serginho’se participation in this round of the WSK was really difficult. Since the first practicesessions the pilot did not have at his disposal a good equipment. No chassis or engines were able to follow the performance of his major competitors and, as a result, his timesleft him in every practice sessions always among the last ones.
Acting on an extremely professional way the 15-year young pilot was never discouraged and with the engineers and mechanics of the team he tried to achieve some solution that could make him somewhat competitive. Unfortunately this was not possible and, at the end of Friday afternoon, with a time of 48s552, he had only the 43rd time in the general classification, a position which earned him 11th place for the start of the qualifying sessionson Group C.
On Saturday three qualifying races were held and, with no solution to the problems of his the kart, Serginhoentered the track without much he could do. Without discouraging, however, he competed in the three qualifying races ending the confrontation BxCin the 23rd place; AxC in the 20th and CxD in the 19th. These three results earned him 62 points and the 22nd position in the starting grid in the pre-final B.
Sunday was completely dedicated to the Pre-final and Final races. Serginho, with his usual dedication, made a good start and before competitors who were faster he managed, even dragging on the track, to finish in the17th place and therefore ensure the 34th and last place on the grid in the Final.
Determined to make again a good race the pilot followed to the last and decisive test of this Sunday. In an exceptional starting the pilot gained several positions. Excited, hethen tried to aim its competitors and, with some success, he gained a few positions until ending the race in a celebrated 21st place.
“I’m living a very difficult season here in Europe. I’m in the main category of world karting, but, unfortunately, I haven’t been able to have an equipment capable of providing me a chance to fight for the top positions. I fought hard this weekend and I really did not believe that I managed to qualify for the final race. In the final race, after a good start, I managed to win some positions and, frankly, finishing in 21st was almost a victory considering everything that happened”, the pilot finished disappointed.
