In the last round of the year the pilot showed great skill in the Goiânia Racetrack

The 2014 season of F3 Brazil ended this Sunday (23). A renewed competition, which attracted new teams, investors and had the participation of 25 riders. The eighth and last double race were held at the International Racetrack of Goiânia, in the Midwest, and the Minas Gerais pilot,  Sérgio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil do Brasil | CEMIG | TAESA | MBR | Tear Têxtil | Lalubema | Patrus Transportes | Milplan) recorded the first pole position of his career.

Arriving from Europe especially for the F3 Brazil competitions, Sette Câmara landed in Goiânia on Thursday night and on Friday he was in the cockpit of car number 7 to participate in two free practices. Under a very unstable weather, the pilot got gradually acquainted with the track and, at the end of the first session, with a time of 1m24s502, he achieved the second time.

Together with the technicians and engineers of Cesário F3 team, Sette Câmara used the second session to do some tests on the equipment with a wet track, since the weather forecast indicated this climatic condition for the first race. Aware of his good equipment the pilot followed then for the qualifying session.

The taking of  times was held on Saturday morning. Confident in his car and in his riding style on a wet track, Serginho got a lap without errors and with the time of 1m20s451 he secured the first pole position of his career in formula cars.

The first race on the weekend was still on Saturday afternoon. After a good start,  the pilot from Belo Horizonte managed to stay in front, however, hard-pressed by his competitors. Obtaining the maximum performance from his car, the pilot couldn’t open and, as a result, in the seventh lap he ended up being overcome, falling to the second place. Without discouraging Sergio followed in this position and even managed to distance from the third position, but not enough to allow him to fight for the victory. Thus, at the end of lap 21, he received the checkered flag finishing in the second position.

As provided for in the Regulation, the starting grid on Sunday race reverses the position of arrival of the first six pilots from the previous race. Thus, in the fifth place, Sette Câmara began his battle in the last race of the year. After a good start he managed to gain one position. During other two laps he followed on the heels of two other competitors and, at the end of the line of boxes, he opened for what would be a double overdrive. The pilot even managed to perform his maneuver, but, upon arriving on the curve, he was hit by the car of one of the opponents, and thus had to abandon the race. The competitor, in turn, ended up being excluded from the race.

“We had a weekend with a great growth here in Goiânia. I got my first pole position and I was in the condition to fight for victory in the race on Sunday. Unfortunately the hit took me out of the race, but I am sure that even having entered the Championship in the middle of the season, I’ve learned a lot and will be of great importance for the rest of my career. I want to thank Charles, Mineiro, Junior, Índio and all of Cesário F3 team who helped me this year. Thanks also to my coaches Danilo Dirani and, recently, Roberto Streit for tips and advice. Finally, my huge thanks  to my sponsors and family that make possible my dream come true every time I enter the track”, commented the 16-year old pilot.
