The Minas Gerais pilot was the second in the Final when throttle return spring broke
It ended last Saturday, day two, the 49th edition of the Brazilian Kart Championship. The disputes occurred Iin the Kartódromo Brazil Kirin Arena in Itu, in the São Paulo State, and gathered nearly 400 riders in a two-week event. The “mineiro” Sérgio Sette Câmara (Banco Mercantil of Brazil / CEMIG / TAESA / MBR / Tear Têxtil / Lalubema / Patruz Transportes / Miplan) competing in the Graduated class, had a very praised competition, was being followed by the leader in the final battery, but the breaking of one of the components of the carburetor of his kart made him abandon the race.
Serginho had a unique participation in the Brazilian Championship. The pilot remained since the first free practice sessions among the fastest in his category, the main one of national karting. After the first two races, in which there was a sum of points, he secured the fifth general position continuing to the pre-final race very well positioned. In this race, Serginho showed all his experience gained in two years competing in Europe, made beautiful passes and crossed the finish line in second place, thus ensuring a place in the front row of the grid in the Final.
The last and decisive race was played at the end of Saturday morning. With a near perfect equipment Serginho, even starting on the dirty part of the track, lost only three positions. With four completed laps he was already back in the second position, without losing the leader of the race from his sight. However, in the seventh lap the pilot noticed a problem in his kart and then the equipment remained fully accelerated. The return spring of the carburetor’s acceleration broke and, as a result, the young pilot from Belo Horizonte had to abandon the race.
“I have no words to comment my frustration. My kart was perfect. To the extent possible I managed to save the equipment to be in the final and everything was already planned. In our strategy my kart would be even faster in the final laps of the Final and, as a result, I would secure the title. It was a disappointment what happened”, said the pilot.
