After his victory in Spa, the Brazilian driver came in second in the legendary Autodromo di Monza

On Sunday (03), the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, Italy, received the second race of the ninth round of the F2 World Championship. Sérgio Sette Câmara (ACER | CCR | SANEPAV | CEMIG | BELL) had another great performance and returned to the podium, this time in second place, motivated by his first victory in the category, won last week in Belgium. The weekend of Sette Câmara began quite intensely, after all the preparation of the car in free practice. Along with the technicians and engineers of the MP Motorsport team, the driver of the car # 14 did several tests and, above all, he simulated different situations for both races and the qualifiers. Without a great concern for the result, the driver went on to qualifiers. In this occasion, his best lap was 1m31s653 which was enough to place him in the sixth row of the starting grid in 12th place.
“I had a small problem with the brakes, which did not reach the ideal temperature. So I ended up wasting a little time. Maybe I would have been able to qualify a couple of positions ahead, but our car is not bad and we are confident for the races, “said the driver after qualifying.

Unlike the hot, sunny day last Friday, the rain and the cold were present all day on Saturday, leaving drivers and teams in the dark for the races.

After two hours of delay due to the weather conditions, the race was authorized at six in the afternoon (local time), with the cars doing five heating laps behind the Safety-Car. After that was done, the 20 drivers lined up on the grid and set off for the race. With very low grip and the drivers thirsty for positions, car contact and spinning were inevitable. Sergio, after a good start, managed to stay on the track and was slowly gaining positions. After the pit stop, made by MP Motorsport five laps into the final, Sette Câmara returned to the track in the tenth position. The driver kept well on the track, managed to gain another position and, on the last lap, after a crash between the top two, the driver gained two positions and received the flag in seventh. Later, due to a competitor’s penalty, Sette Câmara was confirmed as the sixth place in the competition.

PODIUM CAME BACK AGAIN ON SUNDAY

The good result achieved in Saturday’s race gave Sette Câmara another eight points in the Championship and allowed him to start the second race from the third position. Excited, the Brazilian arrived to the track on Sunday morning with clear skies, it was sunny and the temperature was around 25 degrees.

With the perfect conditions for a race, the Brazilian had a good start. Without the pit stop requirement in this second race, the goal was really to push hard and secure a place in the top positions. In a tight battle for the second position, the driver managed a beautifully overtake and slowly built an advantage that allowed him to stay in the second position until the final flag.

“I am very happy with the work we have been able to do here in Monza. Yesterday’s race was completely atypical, and having had a good result in it gave me the chance to start the race today in a good position. Today’s race was really cool, I had a good start and kept going fast. When I had the opportunity to get to second place I did not miss the chance and then I focused on increasing the distance. It was sensational to return to the podium a week after winning and, moreover, to have won another 20 points in the Championship. I thank my team for all the effort and we are going full throttle to the last two rounds of the year “, concluded the representative of ACER | CCR | SANEPAV | TAESA | CEMIG | BELL.
